Vacations in Andalusia
Tarifa is located in Andalusia in the province of Cadiz. It is at the southernmost tip of Spain and of the European continent. Only 14 km (7.56 nautical miles) separate Europe from Africa. Almost always sunny, it offers magnificent views across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Moroccan Rif mountain range.
In addition to the good climate, marvellous beaches and being the cradle of bullfighting, Andalusia also offers spectacular cultural attractions, especially in the cities of Seville, Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz, Jerez and Malaga.
You can take short excursions to Vejer de la Frontera, Barbate, Bolonia and the El Palmar beaches.
RENFE offers a small “jewel” of a train ride: From Algeciras the train takes you through the mountains of the White Villages and virgin countryside. After passing through historic depots, you arrive in Ronda 2 hours later. There you have enough time to take a walk and eat lunch before catching the return train.
Another attraction is whale watching. Seven marvellous species live in the Strait of Gibraltar. Several times a day boats will take you so close to the whales that you can practically touch them.
Our Natural Parks are becoming more and more popular for bird watching. Because of its proximity to Africa, the area around Tarifa is one of the most important ornithological zones on the planet, amen!
Happy Vacation!
